Overall trend in Geography Optional

Overall trend in Geography Optional

Geographical study can be divided into two parts:

  • The topics which are static & with limited scope
  • The topics which are applied & even UPSC did not define their scope.

Before 2008, most of the questions in UPSC were asked from the first part, making it easier for the student to tackle the questions.

Now after 2008, there has been a tectonic shift in the pattern of questions asked by UPSC, where more & more focus has been given to the second part, thus the difficulty level has increased substantially.
