Contrary to the popular belief of declining significance of optional, a close analysis reveals that optional plays a deciding role in final selection. In present scenario where most of the above average student manage to score around 350+ in GS papers, taking significant lead in optional can decide one’s rank. By taking optional classes one can improve their chances of scoring high marks with little efforts.
Overall trend in Geography Optional
Geographical study can be divided into two parts:
Before 2008, most of the questions in UPSC were asked from the first part, making it easier for the student to tackle the questions.
Now after 2008, there has been a tectonic shift in the pattern of questions asked by UPSC, where more & more focus has been given to the second part, thus the difficulty level has increased substantially.
Here in GS Score, rather than just focusing on easy & convenient topics, we try to align geography optional study with the current trend of UPSC.
Keeping in mind the changing nature of examination, special focus will be given to the topics which are seemingly not covered in traditional books & class notes but are important from UPSC point of view.
Diagram are the soul of geography optional without which scoring good marks is not possible. Thus along with conceptual clarity extensive focus will be given to diagram practice. Separate booklets for diagram will also be provided.
Along with the regular class test, student will also be allowed to appear for our Geography optional test series programme.
